Thorton has played well for William & Mary

Marcus Thornton a All- Metropolitan in Washington, DC last year. He is a freshman for Willaim & Mary Tribe this year. The Tribe lost a few of their leading scorers from last year, so it was considered a rebuilding year for the program.

Well Marcus Thornton has stepped up as if he was a veteran, by being second on the team in scoring averaging 11 ppg. He is also contributuing 2.2 prg. Thornton hit his season high against Liberty with 19 points. Look out for the talented freshman this year.

Kansas holds off Georgetown.

Late Monday night in Maui, a young and underrated Georgetown Hoyas team gave the no. 14 Kansas Jayhawks a run for their money, but Kanssas grinded out a 67-63 victory.

Thomas Robinson
Throughout the game Kansas played inside out against the Georgetown zone. They penetrated the zone and kicked to Thomas Robinson for 5 of his dunks and then crisply spreader the ball around the perimeter, knocking down jumpers on the perimeter.

The Hoyas simply had no answer for the 6'9 240 power forward Thomas Robinson, who scored 20 points on 7-14 shooting with 12 rebounds and two blocks. Five of his baskets came on dunks, as none of the Hoyas big men had the strength to wrestle with Robinson in the low post or the athleticism to challenge him at the rim.
Jason Clark

Georgetown kept themselves in the game by bombing away from the perimeter, shooting 7-24 from beyond the arc. Hollis Thompson and Jason Clark combined for 29 points while hoisting up 12 three-point shots, with Clark going 1-3 in the final minute as the Jayhawks held off a furious Hoya rally. Jason Clark had 15 points and 5 rebounds.

Brendan Bald scores career high.

Junior guard Brendan Bald busted out of his shooting slump and dumped in five second-half 3-pointers for a career-high 21 points while senior forward Pat Bergmann (14 points, 11 rebounds) recorded his first double-double as a Catamount.

The inside-out production from Bergmann and Bald helped Vermont overcome a sluggish first half against Dartmouth and erase memories of the hard-to-swallow ending involved with Friday’s 61-59 defeat at South Florida in the season opener.

Bald caught fire in the second half after only hitting 1 of 4 shots in the first half.

Will Barton leads Memphis in victory over Belmont

Barton scored 23 points on Tuesday evening to lead his explosive Tigers team to a 97-81 victory over Belmont.
Barton, a preseason All-Conference USA first-team selection, didn't play in Memphis' exhibition games last year because of knee and ankle injuries, and it showed over the Tigers' first two regular-season games. Barton went 2 of 10 from the field and totaled just five points.
In Memphis' two exhibitions wins this month, Barton averaged 24.5 points on 66.7 percent shooting (18 of 27).
In addition to being more selective with his shots, Barton has been a presence on the glass (10 combined rebounds) and has taken better care of the ball (four turnovers in 46 minutes).
"I'm in a comfort zone right now," Barton said. "I'm in Year 2 in the offense so I understand all the plays. I've always been a driver, but last year, coming from the exhibition games, I was hurt. I didn't have trust in my knee or my ankle, so I was settling for jump shots. Then it took me half the season to realize I'm a driver, not a jump-shooter. Now I just keep trying to get to that lane. Attack, attack, attack."
