Dewayne Jackson has been the catalyst so far this season averagng 16.6 ppg. There last game he did not have his best performance against South Carolina State, but they edged out a victory. Jackson had 9 points and 10 rebounds.
This season Jackson has to be the primary scorer for the Bears to have success, he was a preseason all-conference selection. With so much pressure on his shoulders, his shooting percentages have gone down, especially from behind the 3 point line. Last year Jackson shot over 40% from behind the arc and now is shooting 26%.
Nevertheless he is expected to continue to shot the ball. Jackson stepped up big in almost all 3 of their games against Top 25 ranked opponents, averaging 20 points. 9pts vs. Syracuse, 22pts vs. Louisville, 29pts vs. Baylor.
Jackson as of now will likely be a candidate for player of the year in the MEAC conference. Their next game will be versus Delaware State in Delaware.
