Atkins and Grant lead Irish to victory over Pittsburgh

Notre Dame handed No. 22 Pitt its second consecutive loss tonight, a 72-59 setback in the Big East Conference opener at the Joyce Center.

Eric Atkins and Jerian Grant each added 15 apiece for the Irish, who trailed by one at halftime.

Talib Zanna led led Pitt (11-3, 0-1) with 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Panthers, who dropped consecutive games for the first time since the 2009-10 season. The Panthers lost their final non-conference game to Wagner Friday night.
